Lewis Computer Services, Inc. offers two software applications
supporting administrative/financial functions for Medicare-certified
Home Care and Hospice providers and Private Duty/Staffing companies.
A clinical component for one of the products is nearing release.
Lewis also offers an automated A/R tracking service.
- Patron is a 32-bit, SQL Database, Windows application
introduced in 1999.
- Prompt is the company’s legacy DOS application,
in use since 1986. It supports administrative/billing functions.
It is no longer actively marketed to new customers but there are
no plans to discontinue support for existing users. Development
of Prompt 8, a Windows version, has been announced but
a release date has not been set. This new version will support
customers wanting to move from DOS to Windows but not needing
Patron's feature set.
- Receivables Master, from Lewis’ Financial Services
Division (FSD), is an automated claims reporting service introduced
in 2001. Subscribers download A/R reports from the FSD web site
to MS Excel 2000 or higher. Reports are assembled from data pulled,
with authorization, from the customer’s Fiscal Intermediary.
Lewis staff developed Prompt and introduced it in 1986.
It operates on any DOS or Windows PC, standalone or within a Novell
Netware network. Recent versions are compatible with Windows desktop
stations. Patron was introduced in 1999, not as a replacement
for the legacy DOS product but in addition to it, with features
geared toward larger organizations. Both products support electronic
PPS billing. Patron allows customers to custom design clinical
assessment screens. A clinical module and an optional, W/Intel laptop/notebook
point-of-care system for Patron are scheduled for release
in 2004.
Patron is a 3-tier, 32-bit Windows application, written
in Visual C++ for Microsoft SQL Server. It operates within Windows
NT/2000/2003 LAN and/or WAN environments. Patron requires
dedicated Pentium-class servers running Windows Server 2000/2003,
MS SQL Server 2000 and, in WAN environments, Citrix Metaframe, one
Citrix server per 30 Patron users. Servers with dual processors
are recommended when Citrix Metaframe is used. One SQL Client Access
License (CAL) is required per user, plus one license each for the
Multum Drug Database and MS Interface Manager. Lewis also recommends
Crystal Reports be installed for custom reporting.
Once released, Patron Clinical for point-of-care will require
a dedicated Pentium server running Windows Server 2000/2003, MS
SQL Server 2000 and MS Message Queuing.
Prompt runs on low-end desktop PCs. It operates best on
Novell NetWare but will run in a Windows network.
Receivables Master is a platform-independent service and
requires only an Internet connection and email account.
Patron is licensed for a one-time fee per user plus an
annual maintenance fee. It can be installed on the customer’s
server or hosted by the vendor. Patron can be integrated
with the Multum Drug Database, which must be licensed separately.
Prompt is typically leased month-to-month directly from
Lewis. The monthly fee includes license and maintenance amounts.
Receivables Master is a subscription service, paid monthly.
