Horizon Homecare is a Windows-based, single-database
system that supports administrative/financial, regulatory, resource
management and clinical functions for Home Health and Hospice. McKesson
offers both installed and hosted implementations of the product.
McKesson Telehealth Advisor collects patient health information via a bedside device and transmits it from the patient's home to a home care or hospice clinician. It returns customized disease management program information to the patient..
McKesson ECS staff developed Horizon Homecare and introduced
it in 1999. It replaced a legacy DOS product that the company discontinued
in anticipation of Y2k. Horizon Homecare supports patient
intake, electronic billing, personnel scheduling, OASIS, office
clinical and point-of-care documentation, telephony, decision support
reporting, accounts receivable and Internet-based physician access.
McKesson Telehealth Advisor is made available through an agreement with Health Hero Network, a remote health monitoring and management developer. It supports two-way communication between patient home and clinician to deliver disease management and education content to the patient and vital signs to the home care agency or hospice..
Horizon Homecare was developed in Visual Basic and was
designed to operate on up-to-date Windows-based Pentium-class servers.
On the desktop, McKesson recommends Pentium-class processors and
Windows 2000 or NT Workstation. For field access, McKesson recommends
Pentium laptops/notebooks or pen-based systems running Windows 2000
or XP.
The company's Telehealth Advisor consists of two components. The in-home device, Health Buddy®, runs on the Linux OS over a Samsung ARM 2410 processor. The in-office monitoring system operates on a Windows/Pentium-class PC and requires a high-speed Internet connection..
McKesson offers Horizon Homecare in a choice of delivery
models. It is available in a traditional server-based installation,
maintained by the agency. It is also available in a remotely hosted
option, known as Horizon Homecare Connection, which is
deployed over the Internet.
